I attended King's College London, where I studied music, majoring in composition, and achieved a 1st Class (Hons) Degree. I have performed at some of London's most prestigious venues including The Royal Festival Hall, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club, Kansas Smitty's, Wilderness Festival, The Nightjar, The Ned London, and many more. TEACHING EXPERIENCE: I have been working as a private piano, singing teacher, and music tutor for 10 years, helping students achieve their personal goals, success with their ABRSM and Trinity instrumental exams, and their desired GCSE and A Level Results. I also worked as a peripatetic teacher in a secondary school (Bishop Thomas Grant School) for three years before deciding to make my teaching practice entirely private. While at the school I taught piano, I also tutored GCSE and A Level students through their exams. I also ran the school's jazz band throughout my tenure where I taught jazz, ensemble, and improvisational skills to students on many different instruments. ABOUT OUR LESSONS: In our lessons, I will work with you to come up with a teaching plan that will best suit you. I am very open to all musical styles so will make sure that the material we are covering is always the music you want to be learning! If you or your child would like to pursue grades with ABRSM or Trinity exam boards, you will be pleased to know that my students have had a 100% success rate, with many achieving merit or distinction. With solo piano performance degrees from the Royal Academy of Music (London) and the Universität der Künste (Berlin) I am a highly qualified award-winning concert pianist with almost 20 years of teaching experience and a passion for education. My musical learning was also furthered by postgraduate musicological studies at Royal Holloway and serious interests in philosophy, religions, history, civilization, literature, poetry, law, languages as well as many other things. I loved my musical journey which included not only piano but also composition, the violin, recorder, flute, harpsichord and clavichord from childhood onwards. In the last two decades, teaching has been giving meaning to my life and I enjoy helping others to find fulfillment as well as joy in their learning. My teaching approach is comprehensive, builds up confidence and incorporates a multidisciplinary orientation thanks to which students get promptly enthused over their learning. There is a focus on enhancing musical understanding, developing or improving reading skills, building up technique, expanding repertoire in a healthy way and foundationally preventing or sorting out injuries as well as pain-related problems. Although my teaching style is primarily quality-oriented with regards to skills, I believe that happiness, confidence, results and a sane sense of achievement are important components to balance in holistic education and offer a non-judgemental, patient, kind, equality-oriented, multicultural environment in which learning can thrive. I encourage students to perform in concerts, festivals, exams and competitions. Many have won prizes in numerous competitions and passed exams with distinctions. Trusted teacher: I have been playing the violin and piano for over 20 years now, graduating in 2015 from the Royal College of Music with a first-class bachelor's degree in violin performance, and have recently started an Advanced Diploma in Performance at the Royal Academy of Music. I have performed extensively all over the UK as a soloist, most notably as a strings finalist on BBC young musician of the year, and at the Battle Proms concert series to audiences of up to 12,000. I've also delved into the Folk world a little and was on tv for the BBC Radio 2 folk awards as part of Jim Moray's band! I started officially teaching at 17, coaching local teachers more advanced students. From there I became Professor Berent Korfker's private assistant at 18, teaching his younger students from the Purcell School and alike. Being able to work with such talented students was extremely inspiring and excited me to start my own class with complete beginners on both violin and piano. I now have a hugely mixed class in both ability and age (4 to over 50!) with a 100% pass rate in their exams. My approach has always depended on the student's age, ability, and character. For younger students, I incorporate games, with them often wondering how the lessons finished so quickly! I like to create a fun environment for musical development where questions are encouraged, and all students are taught how to teach themselves and apply techniques learned in the lesson to the practice room.
