Nice to meet you! I am Julie, a private piano teacher since 2019 for beginners to cycle II. Currently I have 12 students, adults, teenagers and children from 4 years old! My goal is for my students to learn the piano while having fun, so that they become independent over time and can enjoy playing what they like. This is why I listen to everyone's tastes, while opening doors to registers that might not be those immediately thought of (classical, jazz, singing accompaniment, etc.). Also, music theory is a key point of learning that cannot be ignored if you want to progress. But knowing that it can scare more than one, I would like to point out that I do this in a very fun way by adapting to the level of capacity and age of each person: this therefore involves pieces, songs, and for the youngest, games that I make myself (memory, tables, human-sized mats, card games, writing, etc.). This allows us to suit everyone, and learning through all the senses (writing, listening, movement, memorization, etc.) is, in my opinion, a very relevant means. If the student likes singing, I also offer singing lessons and I teach them how to accompany themselves, so that they can ultimately accompany themselves on all the songs and have a lot of fun. My lessons last 1 hour, whether the student is an adult or a child. I can possibly teach at my home if necessary, but I usually go to the student's home. Also, the piano is a rather solo instrument. I started my lessons with Giorgia four months ago, and I am so glad to have found her. As a 26-year-old beginner, I was not sure if I should even try to pursue learning an instrument at this point. But now I am so glad I did! I am learning online, and I was a little unsure of how lessons via webcam would go. Despite my prejudice, everything turned out great, even though my setup is quite basic. Her approach to teaching is very creative. She is able to explain things that seem hard to put into words, and she always finds comparisons and descriptions that convey clearly little details of approach that make a lot of difference in the end result. For any difficulty I encountered, she presented methods of exercise that helped correct it. Another thing that I appreciate is that from one lesson to the next, the volume of work is challenging enough that I feel I am making progress, but not to the point that I am overwhelmed. Also, even though I am just beginning and the pieces are not that complex, she explains the musical interpretation in a way that not only helps me advance my skill but also enriches the way I understand and listen to music, and I find great value in that. Her manner of teaching is very organic, and she is a patient teacher with a warm presence. I wholeheartedly recommend her lessons!

Singing Lessons (Individual) - Pop, Jazz, Soul, Blues, Rock (Amsterdam)

Not just a singing teacher, but by the way also the best vocal coach you can get hold of at this moment and in this area of the Netherlands (so take your chance...;-)). For about 3 years I had a serious problem with my vocal chords (incomplete closure) and a dislocated larynx. I started to be in contact with Stefano by chance asking him to show me some (singing) exercises additionally to my treatment at the ENT-department of Martini Ziekenhuis Groningen as well as an ongoing therapy at a professional trained speech therapist. To cut a long story short: Within a couple of lessons and dedicated exercises he succeeded in re-positioning my larynx and got rid of my incomplete vocal cords closure, meanwhile the medical specialists had decided that the only cure could possibly be an operation... As a ‘side-effect’ I am now able to sing and control my voice like I have never been able before and could never have imagined that this was possible to achieve by just some simple but individually chosen exercises and practice. Mary has been great in our interactions. At the moment, we are meeting twice a week for an hour each session. She started with a class in which we got to know each other and she listen to my goals. Then, she prepared exercises and lessons specially designed to help me reach those goals with practice and also prepared lessons to help me continue growing as a guitar player. Moreover, she goes often out of her way to get songs challenging to my level, but that are doable with enough practice. In all, I am enjoying quite a lot of our classes and I am always looking forward to them.
