I aim to strike a balance as much as possible between teaching technical skills and musicality, as of course there cannot be one without the other when learning an instrument. I am a firm believer in tackling one aspect at a time in lessons and gradually combining it with another aspect of playing. The most important aspect of learning any instrument is of course the music! There are technical things that need to be worked on in playing any instrument - but of fundamental importance is that the student has a feel for the music they play and a musical idea of what the end goal of any piece is.
