Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, I have been appearing on the stages of Europe and the UK for the past 10 years, for example, Welsh National Opera, Opéra de Lyon, Opéra de Lausanne, the Luzerner Theater, Buxton International Festival, Liverpool Philharmonic and many many more. My background, before my operatic days, was in Gospel music and I find that the two styles can go wonderfully hand in hand! My lessons typically last an hour but can be longer depending on your needs, or shorter to begin with. I studied Classical Singing at the Conservatoire in Lyon France, and at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne in Switzerland, and have an extensive performing career in opera and gospel music. Since 2018, I have been a passionate teacher to voice students of all ages and levels, from young students curious about developing their voices and taking exams, to professional artists performing live and pursuing recording careers. I would be delighted to work with you to build your confidence and vocal technique, to find what you are looking for with your voice! Please don't be nervous if you are a complete beginner; I truly believe that we all have the capacity to sing if we learn the right techniques and are given the encouragement to stick with it! Hello, my name is Ricardo and I'm a Portuguese professional opera singer and singing teacher based in London. I trained at the University of Aveiro (2010; BMus & MEdu Vocal Performance and Tuition w/ Distinction) and at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (2011; MMus in Performance w/ Merit). I'm a certified singing teacher and would love to help you! I teach singing to any age range and in a variety of styles: Classical, Contemporary/Musical Theatre. I teach either at my home in Wimbledon or at the student's home. I'm happy to travel within the London metropolitan area but will adjust the price of the lessons according to the travel costs I incur. My schedule is very flexible and the lessons are to be arranged with the student on a weekly basis. My singing students will be prepared to undertake any endeavour they want to in the music world: I can prepare them to sing for fun for family gatherings, Conservatoire access, ABRSM exams or to sing professionally. I've also had great success with Skype/Facetime singing lessons. These are charged at the same price as live lessons and the date and time are to be arranged between me and the student. Currently I teach and interact in English. I also have professional command of Italian, Japanese, French, Spanish and German. In the past I have taught advanced courses in English, Italian and Japanese. I am able to read Chinese, but I currently do not speak beyond the basics (A2).
