My method is based on a healthy way of producing sound, trying exercises that benefit the student and that are a totally personal experience. The genre? Your decision! Classical or pop, the choice of repertoire is a two-sided exercise, both you and I create a portfolio that will not only test your voice but will excite you and make your study fun and enjoyable. The classes are individual and last 45 minutes for teenagers and 1 hour for adults. As a cellist I've had the pleasure and honour of collaborating with renowned artists such as Hans Zimmer, being part of his 2022 European Tour Orchestra, touring over 15 countries and playing in locations such as London's O2 Arena or Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. I am now mainly active as a performer of contemporary/experimental music, as well as classical music, freelancing in various orchestras in the Netherlands, having played in venues such as Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Concertgebouw or TivoliVredenburg. I offer cello lessons, regardless of the level - whether you are a curious beginner or more advanced player, i'm happy to collaborate and share my knowledge and experience with you, as well as inspire your creativity regarding both playing the right notes, and making artistic choices. I had a great first lesson with Mariela. What I found most important: - Mariela ensures you're comfortable. Her kindness and calm confidence work wonders for a self-conscious and nervous person like me. - Explanations! Everything is clearly explained, so you always know why you're doing something and how to do it correctly. - I loved the flexible approach: if you know exactly what you want, she'll help you achieve it, but if you're completely lost, she's ready to guide you, offer different options, and give you advice. No pressure, but lots of support. - I feel like Mariela has many different teaching strategies for various personalities and goals, which is awesome. Plus, she has a lot of cool vocal tricks up her sleeve! - It's obvious that Mariela loves both music and teaching, which is so inspiring.
