Music theory, because it allows you to master the technical tools that allow you to make music, is fundamental for anyone who wants to progress in their instrument. Musical culture makes it possible to understand what goes on in music beyond the technique. From this knowledge (established over a lot of listening) we can develop an interpretation and go beyond technical issues. For music theory lessons only, I constantly articulate the different musical parameters (rhythm, intonation, ear, etc.) and draw my training from the repertoire, which has the advantage of making music from the start. Small technical exercises also allow you to focus on one or the other parameter, but the perspective remains mainly that of a global approach placing the music at the center. As far as musical culture is concerned, I use each of my professional experiences (Musicologist, playwright and music critic) to transmit my knowledge to you. Thus we will approach the history of music through works (history of forms and languages), interpretation and places of music. It is mainly through the study of documents (texts of musical criticism, iconography, scores, musical instruments...) that transmission takes place. Knowledge completes and informs this documentary study. Finally the study of document and the erudition have only one goal: to enlighten the listening of the works which I place at the heart of my teaching.

I always thought about how the ancient Greeks introduced Music as an essential subject in school. Music was to heal, to entertain, to get to know yourself more. I'm just finished my studies in the University of Arts of Codarts (Rotterdam) and I can't deny I will always keep learning after finishing my degree. I'm looking forward to sharing some knowledge and to hear what you already know. What can I offer? Styles that we can work on: Classical, Folk, Jazz, Pop music. Languages that we can speak in the lesson: Dutch, English, Catalan or/and Spanish Skills that we can work on: basic techniques, jazz and folk techniques, play the cello while singing, percussion on the cello. How do I work? Each class will be individually prepared, in order to have the student goals in mind. For BEGINNERS I teach the bow, finger positions and other basics with easy songs (with kids I add games to make it more entreating). For AVERAGE LEVEL we explore, with already some technique, how to play songs, finding a good sound and feel at ease with the instrument. Additional Activities: Once a month I plan a rehearsal with pianist to work on some repertoire of cello and piano. Meetings with other students are also arranged to play duos together. Violin and music theory lessons for people of all ages and levels in Den Haag (The Hague)

I like Yulia, my 8 yrs old daughter likes Yulia and here is why: she's the best violin tutor my daughter has had! My daughter is very active and we have had two tutors before and she got on well with the previous tutors on a "fun" level, yet she hardly made time to play violin and each tutoring session became a play date and practicing on violin was a struggle. With Yulia, my daughter actually plays violin now and she's starting to enjoy classical music as well. I find Yulia naturally engaging and for my daughter learning music with Yulia becomes an automatic flow, so she hardly notices that she's had a "long" violin lesson. Now we look forward to seeing Yulia every week!
