Music can be learned at any age! A jazz piano and contemporary music teacher with a state diploma from Pôle Sup' 93, I give lessons for young, medium or old of all levels. I am also a composer and arranger. I teach at rue Marceau (tram Maryse Bastié or metro Pierre et Marie Curie). Whether you are a complete beginner, classically trained, or an advanced self-taught person, my courses are for you. I adapt my program according to the strengths, weaknesses and needs of each person: -work of jazz, pop, rock, funk standards... -learning and deciphering chords, scales, modes, voicings... -improvisation work -piano technique exercises -harmony/music theory - deciphering scores -work on rhythm and ear -MAO, music production -composition and arrangements This program is flexible depending on your profile and your priorities, which we will define together during the first lesson and then throughout the year and your progress. To get started or review the basics needed for all styles (classical, jazz, contemporary music, etc.), I recommend the Piano Safari method that I have been using successfully with my students for several years now. It comes in 3 versions: -Piano Safari Friends from 4 to 6 years old -Piano Safari from 6 to 10 years old -Piano Safari for the older student for teens and adults. --- NEW FOR THE SEPTEMBER BACK TO SCHOOL: GROUP CLASSES Collective workshop 6 hands For whom: children (6 to 10 years old), 3 students Level: beginners Duration: 45 min When: every week (Tuesday evening or Wednesday, time to be defined together) The students work together around a single piano, alternating between times when each student plays alone in turn and phases of collective playing with 6 hands. The program of the two workshops is based on a modern and fun American method: Piano Safari. It provides both the learning of music theory and reading as well as the acquisition of the fundamentals of piano technique through a varied repertoire (classical, traditional music, blues, etc.) of progressive difficulty. Learning is done in a balanced way between written approach (reading of score) and oral approach (imitation of the teacher). It also provides an introduction to improvisation. Most of the pieces are designed to be accompanied by the teacher and mp3s are provided for work on site and at home. Demonstration videos to watch at home are also provided to facilitate learning of the pieces learned orally.

Trusted teacher: I am a professional lyric soprano graduated from the CNSM of Lyon. I participate in productions with the Concert d'Astrée, the Choir of Namur, Accentus, the Opéra National de Lorraine, Choir de la Chapelle Harmonique. I am also on the lists of the Montpellier Opera, Concert Spirituel, Ensemble Correspondances and Radio France choir. I have just finished a production of Haydn's Die Schöpfung at the Opéra National de Lorraine last January-February, conducted by Marta Gardolinska (Guillaume Fauchère choir director), directed by Kevin Barz. I sang solo and in chorus the role of the Trojan woman in Campra's Idomenée in 2021 at the Lille Opera and the Berlin Staatsoper, staging of the fura dels baus, I also sang the solo of Campra's Requiem at the philharmonies of Luxembourg, Lille, Essen Cologne and Berlin with the Concert d'Astrée in 2019 directed by Emmanuelle Haïm. In 2019, I participated in the production of Les Indes Galantes by Rameau with the Namur Choir at the Opera Bastille, directed by Leonardo Garcia Alarcon and directed by Clement Cogitore. In 2022, I participated in numerous productions, notably with the Accentus choir in Beethoven's 9th symphony, the missa solemnis or even a polyphonic baroque project. In 2022 I participated in the production of Hulda by Cesar Franck with the Namur Choir at the Grand Manège de Namur, the Liège Philharmonic and the Théatre des Champs Elysées. My background as well as my skills in lyrical singing allow me to master my instrument well. I am a very curious and very patient person, and I like to find solutions to problems. Transmitting my passion to students wishing to discover or develop their voices, discover their artistic personality would be a great pleasure for me. If I can transmit this joy that I have from singing as well as my acquired knowledge, it would be a great exploration for them as for me.

Trusted teacher: After dedicating 14 years to mastering the guitar, I've developed a comprehensive understanding of guitar playing, encompassing both foundational techniques and advanced music theory. In these lessons, I'll be sharing the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over this extensive period of learning. I will be covering a broad range of guitar techniques, including fingerpicking, strumming techniques, major and minor chords, power chords, barre chords, riffs, scales, finger warm-ups, practising any song of your choice, string bending, pull-offs, hammer-ons, harmonics, strumming patterns, and slides. All are provided with diagrams etc. For music theory, I will begin by covering the fundamentals, including notes, strings, and the musical 12-note chromatic scale alphabet on the guitar. As students progress, we will delve into more advanced topics such as tones, semitones, chord progressions, circle of fifths, scale formulas and chord terminology. Additionally, we will explore concepts like consonance and dissonance and pitch practice to develop relative pitch. (You have to be born with perfect pitch but you can learn relative pitch with practise!) Then advancing to jazz theory, we'll explore; jazz scale formulas, jazz chord progressions, swing techniques, major and minor 7th chords, major and minor 9th chords, dominant, augmented, half-diminished, diminished, sus2 and sus4 chords. And then jazz scales and the art of re-harmonising a song (changing the chords to jazz chords). All music theory will be intertwined with guitar practice as both can't be done without the other! One observation I've made while learning guitar through lessons is that information is often doled out incrementally, making it feel like a breadcrumb trail. Guitar knowledge and skills seem to be closely guarded and usually gatekept unless actively sought out. I strongly believe that the extensive knowledge I've acquired over 14 years of playing should be fruitfully shared in a more comprehensive and accessible manner, of course while being tailored to the pace of the students. In essence, I'm convinced that the depth of my understanding I've gained could be effectively conveyed and learnt within a two-year timeframe without including the time it takes to master the skill with practice, of course, I'd like to make it easier for people to learn the guitar and the theory behind it. I have also graduated with a distinction for my Music Performance and Production UAL Level 3 Course and a distinction in Fashion Communication which included my music playing at Central Saint Martins. I also have experience teaching guitar in London and Bristol before. The lessons will be taught in English so practising your English with me is also a plus, a foundational knowledge of English is required to take the lessons.

Trusted teacher: Former student of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, editor-in-chief of the magazine Avant-Scène Opéra, editor for the Philharmonie du Luxembourg, I offer you the following lessons. Music theory and musical culture are essential tools for understanding and making music. Music theory, because it allows you to master the technical tools that allow you to make music, is fundamental for anyone who wants to progress in their instrument. Musical culture makes it possible to understand what goes on in music beyond the technique. From this knowledge (established over a lot of listening) we can develop an interpretation and go beyond technical issues. For music theory lessons only, I constantly articulate the different musical parameters (rhythm, intonation, ear, etc.) and draw my training from the repertoire, which has the advantage of making music from the start. Small technical exercises also allow you to focus on one or the other parameter, but the perspective remains mainly that of a global approach placing the music at the center. As far as musical culture is concerned, I use each of my professional experiences (Musicologist, playwright and music critic) to transmit my knowledge to you. Thus we will approach the history of music through works (history of forms and languages), interpretation and places of music. It is mainly through the study of documents (texts of musical criticism, iconography, scores, musical instruments...) that transmission takes place. Knowledge completes and informs this documentary study. Finally the study of document and the erudition have only one goal: to enlighten the listening of the works which I place at the heart of my teaching.

Saxophone lessons (Paris)
Rob
Rob is fantastic - warm, engaging, and patient. My 10-year-old son has been taking a weekly class with Rob for the entire school year. Rob is very responsive and communicative, so scheduling and other logistics have been smooth. He incorporates my son's interests into the lessons while building foundational skills. Rob has helped my son grow as a musician and, perhaps most importantly, maintain an enthusiasm for the process.
