Trusted teacher: About the teacher: First, Professional. Holding a Master in Music post-graduate degree, the teacher has been teaching piano lessons professionally for 17 years. She has a solid theoretical foundation in music teaching, composition, and piano performance. Second, a kind attitude with patience, as well as a proper method for different levels of students. She has taught students who easily pass ABRSM grade 8. She also possesses excellent patience with young kids under the age of six. During the last ten years, her goal has been to solve an important issue: how to make students interested in piano playing. Most kids who learn the piano would give up before or during their teenage time. However, 99% of them regret it when they grow up. In Christina's lesson, she will acknowledge to the students and parents clearly what difficulties they will face during the process of music learning. It's more important that students learn to develop a good habit, a worthwhile hobby, and the perseverance that will benefit their whole life. About the class: Different students may require different class lengths. For a child under the age of six, the teacher recommends less time for each class but a higher frequency. Kids who took the piano class twice a week and half an hour each class usually progress faster than those who took it once a week. For kids who practice longer time, it is also advised to take the course longer time. A child who practices two hours a day could play Beethoven's Fur Elise within one year, but for a child who practices less than half an hour per day, this goal may take more than four years to reach. For adults who have greater self-control, it is advised to take the class for a longer time per class but with less frequency.

Trusted teacher: I have been immersed in music, and particularly the piano, for over 40 years. I was trained by concert professors, who were themselves trained by the greatest (my own professor's piano teacher was taught by Alfred Cortot). I learned music theory at the Conservatoire and harmony and counterpoint at the HEM in Geneva. At the same time, I have a Bachelor's degree in Musicology from the Université des Lettres de Genève. This allows me not only to teach the essential basics of music to students, but also to place each style and each composer in its historical context. This greatly facilitates learning. I teach all types of music, from classical to modern pop, including film music and more recent composers like Ludovico Einaudi. My goal is to give the student a good harmonic foundation and a good musical ear so that they can be independent in what they want to play and always have the pleasure of sitting down at the piano! My classes are aimed at beginners of all ages (children or adults) with no musical knowledge, as well as advanced students or those who want to prepare for theoretical or practical exams. The scores will always be chosen in agreement with the student, according to their objectives and desired progress, mixing all musical styles (classical, pop, film music, etc.) so that they always have fun playing their instrument. Each student is unique, which is why each lesson is prepared individually to meet their aspirations or objectives. It is very important to me that the course takes place in a kind and sharing atmosphere, with discussion. For children, I can conduct regular interviews with parents in person or by phone (after each lesson if necessary) to report on the progress made and the achievement of desired objectives. I am very flexible regarding the wishes of each student and therefore adapt easily to any situation. The strong points of the lessons: • In all styles (classical, contemporary, modern hits, film music) • All levels, courses in French • Possibility of courses or additional courses in English or Russian if necessary • All ages (for children under 6 years old, lessons of 15-20 minutes maximum with adapted price) • Organization of recitals in the presence of parents and the public in a friendly atmosphere • Kindness • Adaptation to each student, definition of objectives individually • The student can choose certain pieces that he would like to play • Improvisation: learning improvisation techniques so that the student can play pieces on the piano naturally and without sheet music. • For children: regular interviews with parents in person or by telephone (after each lesson if necessary) to report on progress made and achievement of desired objectives • Discount from the 2nd student per family • Listening to each student • Always in kindness and benevolence • Theory and practice are taught in parallel so that the student always enjoys everything they do. Possibility of taking the two separately (either piano or music theory) • Share my passion for music • Patience • Piano 4 hands • Canton of Geneva – free travel

Emma

I booked Emma to provide five half-hour lessons for my 9-year-old daughter as an introduction to improvising. She managed to quickly assess my daughter's initial abilities, and come up with some solid starting points that were all well-explained and which my daughter understood and enjoyed. Many thanks!

Arthur

Arthur is very enthusiastic and are able to teach music in a very engaging manner. I am very satisfied after my 10 year old sons first lesson. I have also started taking lessons and Arthur is equally adept at teaching a 49 year old adult as he is when giving lessons to children. I highly recommend him.

This was my first meeting with Nikos and I found him to be very understanding and open to my aspirations and ambitions regarding the acoustic guitar. I look forward to being his student for a decent interval to reach my next level in playing classical guitar music.
