Study with award-winning pianist Gema, with individually tailored lessons to help you reach your goals🎹🌟 Graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music specialising in Music Education, Gema is a Spanish/Chinese pianist based in Manchester. She has experience teaching for 6 years to a wide range of students; whether you’re a beginner, young professional, preparing for exams, or just want to learn for fun. She has taught people of ages 2-53, believing it is never too late, or early, to start learning. When teaching children, she makes sure to always communicate with both parents and children so everyone is happy with the lessons. Gema has a wide experience teaching adults and is aware of the difficulties of learning a new skill while working full-time, so she makes sure to take each student’s personal circumstances into consideration when planning lessons. She has also taught three different languages: English, Spanish and Chinese, making her an ideal teacher if you want to improve your language skills while learning piano. She teaches classical and pop repertoire, both in person and online. She has also taught these genres as a mix, and even adding improvisation and jazz to it. Gema loves getting to understand her students and tailoring everything to their personal needs, so she always plans in advance and is open for a chat beforehand. She understands every student learns at a different pace, and will accommodate to your own pacing. She does not believe in following one single tutoring book through, and will give you enough resources to learn effectively and holistically, adjusting the learning curve to your needs. She believes in good communication and assertive conversations, so she will always listen to you if you don’t think something is working. She believes in a reflective and learner-centered approach, so you can be assured that YOU are the priority. Gema has successfully prepared all her ABRSM students to date and is able to teach Trinity, Rockschool and MTB syllabuses. She is also a piano teacher at a high school where she prepares GCSE students for their solo/ensemble performances. About her experience as a performer, she has won 20 prizes in competitions and performed in 9 different countries (Spain, UK, France, Netherlands, Latvia, United States, China, Korea and Switzerland). Recently, she won the RNCM Lucy Hale Award and the RNCM Clifford Hartley Award, the latter one for achieving the highest mark at the piano pedagogy course. To this day Gema is certain that her passion is teaching and helping students unlock their potential. Get in contact to start your journey now!

Trusted teacher: As a recent graduate of Mountview and having worked in the industry for five years, I would love to now share my passion for singing! I have been singing for twelve years now and have had many amazing opportunities as a professional vocalist. I started as a pop singer but, in recent years, I have turned towards musical theater. As a performer, it is very important to be able to sing different genres of music. Therefore, I am able to help my students in whatever genre they need through my experience and knowledge. Whether you want to sing the latest Olivia Rodrigo song or are a big fan of Les Miserables, I can provide you with guidance into getting the sound that you want. In my classes, I would like to give the student as much freedom as possible. The student can bring a song they would like to work on or I can suggest material. We will explore different methods and find out what works best for you! Dependent on the level and what the student wants from the lessons, we can also talk about the anatomy of body and why we use certain methods to reach those hard notes. My passion in singing is to help students sing the songs they want to without damaging themselves and in a safe and fun environment where making mistakes is encouraged! I can also provide tips and tricks for those looking to incorporate their acting skills into singing. My classes are open to all ages and levels. I have five years of experience working with children and teenagers through being an actor and workshop leader on Theatre In Education tours. Recently I started working as an after school drama club teacher and producer and realized how much I enjoyed sharing and working with others on the skills of a singer and performer.

Nathan has been playing Guitar and studying Music for over 15 years, from Primary School right through to the current day in University. Beginning just under a year ago, Nathan has thoroughly enjoyed passing on his enthusiasm and passion for Guitar and Music alike through tutoring. Nathan has several qualifications in Music, including GCSE, A Level and First Class honours in Musical Arts (BA) and, starting with a Masters, he hopes to add to these qualifications in the future. Nathan’s teaching style revolves around his students and therefore adapts to the different students he is teaching, considering their skill level, age and personality when approaching each lesson. Alongside teaching, Nathan is hugely passionate about playing in his Function Band, recording and mixing songs and of course listening to music almost none stop. Nathan teaches Guitar from beginners to intermediate level players and teaches Music Theory up to grade 5 of all ages. Nathan’s lessons include breaking down the fundamentals of both guitar ad theory, from posture, fingering technique, scales, arpeggios, chords, rhythm, melody and anything else the student wishes to learn. He will teach any exam boards requested, preparing his students for their respective exams by breaking down each technical component previously mentioned with specific focus given to each section of the exam. Whether the student wishes to focus on melody, rhythm, chords or just playing their favourite band’s songs, he will devote all his energy to providing the required tutoring in helping his students fulfil these wishes, whilst enjoying themselves in the process. Nathan will give his all to teaching as many genres as he possibly can, although has vast experience in classical and pop music, particularly Funk, Rock and Jazz. His first lesson with any student will be relaxed, with the aim of figuring out the students skill level and what they wish to achieve through their lessons. The student simply needs to let Nathan know their priorities in terms of what they wish to learn and their enthusiasm in achieving this. It is common for Nathan to prepare warm-up exercises for his students, such as stretching exercises for the wrists and hands, along with exercises to develop the technique of each hand, for example finger/plectrum exercises and chromatic scales.

I always encourage my students to practice no matter if they are learning for hobby or for possible future studies. I always adjust my lessons to the needs of the student. I teach grades when students when to give their exams. I also encourage the Suzuki method as I believe it has a wide range of knowledge and repertoire and builds a strong musicianship. If the level of some students is higher and they are interested in studying music, I will try teach more like a conservatoire method, using piano repertoire only, studies if need to, to help the student build up her/his pianistic and musical skills at the best. I always try to give feedback to my students about their work within a specific period and also I often ask them their opinion on a new suggestion of a piece or idea I might have. Mainly I do that to understand what each student needs and wants to learn and accordingly make my plan of the lessons. When I see a student is more independent, musically, I give them choices between pieces and give them tasks to decide on their own. In my teaching methods I include online tutoring. I started teaching online when I moved outside London and kept some of my teaching. It is a very different approach but a very fun one too. Especially at these times we are right now, I find significant to keep sharing our knowledge with young children. It is important to keep inspiring people and especially young kids with music. That way we encourage each other that life will soon get better and the situation shouldn't let affect our lives.
