Trusted teacher: My name is Yiannis. I am a piano/keyboards player and composer. Being a member of various and diverse music projects and also leading my trio, playing in various European countries, is a fulfilling and motivating experience that makes me want to develop constantly, while fueling my passion and love for music. Besides performing, I have been teaching students of diverse age groups, different nationalities and backgrounds, of any level and style at music schools and in private since 2004. In my opinion sharing knowledge, passion and love for music with my students is of great importance, helping them to find or maximize their joy and skills of playing music and develop towards reaching their goals and dreams. Lessons The subjects I'm looking forward to working on with you, are: • Piano/keyboards in any style • Composition/Arranging/Songwriting • Music theory • Modern harmony • Ear training • Rhythm training (master’s thesis dissertation on “Applications of polyrhythms and note groupings in modern music performance”) • Producing (Cubase, Ableton) • Digital music notation (Sibelius) • Band coaching • Individual practice/goal coaching • Preparation for entrance exams for Jazz and Pop Conservatories In our first lesson we will talk about your musical interests, background, and motivation in a friendly and relaxed environment (over a coffee or tea?). We will form an individual course structure, tailored according to your needs. Looking forward to work and have fun with you soon!

Trusted teacher: Hello there! Do you wish to learn to play the piano but do not have several hours every day to dedicate to practicing? I can help! With 15 years of teaching experience, I’ve honed my methods to facilitate rapid progress and maximize efficiency. My students achieve in months, what usually takes years when following a conventional music school program. Nonetheless, I am not taking any shortcuts. On the contrary, one of the reasons why my students progress so fast is my insistence on building solid fundamentals. I strive for my students to master the necessary tools for them to then achieve their own personal ambitions. Having observed the practice routines of professionals and university students worldwide, I've realized that there's often much time to be gained during practice. Realizing everyone's personnality, approach, affinities and tastes are different, I prioritize a personalized approach tailored to your individual learning style. Together, we'll make the most of our sessions, whether you're a beginner diving into music or an intermediate player seeking to enhance your skills. And guess what? You won't need to practice for hours on end to see significant improvement. With regular lessons, even just 15 minutes of practice three times a week can lead to enormous progress. As I often say, the learning process is more akin to a marathon than a sprint. While efficiency is important, I believe that learning should be fun and inspiring. In my lessons, you can expect a supportive and encouraging environment. I'll be there with you every step of the way, celebrating your achievements and helping you overcome any challenges that arise. Together, we'll create a positive and empowering learning experience. Ready to embark on your fast and efficient piano learning journey? Trusted teacher: A composition class that is tailored to your musical needs! This class's main purpose is to help you find your own musical language and voice, either you are a complete beginner in music or a highly skilled musician. The most important question that you will be asked is ''Why?'', in order for you to learn to have control over your musical product, sound and decisions, so that you are always sure that your musical vision is being well translated and transmitted through your work. In this class we are going to work with: 1) Compositional techniques --- Every lesson we are going to discuss about how do you think your piece should be, and about what does your piece need. For that you will need your intuition but also your ''tools'', and those are your compositional techniques. We are going to see them in other pieces and learn how to use them through your own musical vision. 2) Instrumentation --- To write acoutic music you need your ''arsenal'' and those are the instruments that you might use. In this class we will learn the categories, material, sound, structure and combinations of every instrument. We will learn together how each instrument works and how to notate it on paper, so that you are never limited by the nature of the instrument, but instead you are going to be able to bring out 100% of your music. 3) Arranging --- To make sure that you keep your instrumentation skills, we need to put them to use, not only in your music, but also in an arrangement. Together we are going to work on changing the instrumentation in piece and making arrangements of them so that you have a better nderstanding on how the instrumentation of a piece affects directly the compositional proscess and purpose of a piece of music, but also what are the differences between the sound of each instrument while combining them. Also, this will help you make decisions about the result of the arrangement, do you want it to be true to the original, or not? If not, why, and how do you do that? 4) Music History --- Together we will listen to music and learn some basic music history so that you have a better understanding of the different styles, structures and aspects of music, from the Byzantium and Middle ages music, all the way to the music of today. 5) Improvisation --- If you are also an instrumental player, will work also with improvisation. With improvisation you can strengthen your compositional skills, by understanding your intuition, developing your ear, understanding your taste and learning to work with few material, but the most important thing is to learn how to listen and play music with others, because by learning that, you also learn how to communicate and listen all these musical ideas that you have within you before writting (playing) them, controling them and understanding what is needed and what is not in your music. 6) Film scoring --- If you are interested, in this lesson we will also learn how to adapt music to screen. We will learn how to spot the tempo, feeling and texture of a scene but also how to enhance the message of a movie/game/scene/theatre play/documentary with our music. Furthermore will will learn how to use software for midi composition, and VST instruments 7) Electroacoustic composition and sound design --- If you are also interested in electroacoustic music, in this lesson we will learn how to work with sound editting, mixing, design and engineering. We will listen and learn a lot of electroacoustic compositional tecniques to help you explore, understand and work with a complete different musical world. Our goal is to grow your musical perception and horizon. 8) Music notation and software --- For us composers to write our music sometimes we need to use some programs that help us. In the lesson we will learn how to use programs like that, like Musescore, Sibelius, Reaper etc.

Berklee Graduate offers private lessons of Composition, Orchestration, Arranging, Ear Training, Harmony & Counterpoint in Utrecht (Utrecht)
Hernan
Hernan is not just a good teacher but an exceptional one. I have had only one lesson with him so far, but I got so much from it, that I am looking forward to the next one. He went above and beyond from the beginning. He is very modest and professional in his teaching style, which makes it easy to absorb what he teaches. I would say I am an advanced composition and intermediate orchestration student with decades studying and composing by myself. I had been thinking about taking some advanced online courses available on the internet, but almost all such courses are really work-on-your-own courses. They might have Facebook groups available at best, where you can post questions. But they cannot compare to having a real teacher with the hands-on knowledge guiding you one on one. That one session was packed with so many great insights which I could have never gotten out of any video course or book. Only an insider of orchestration craft and the music composition industry could have such insights. I am looking forward to what I can learn in future lessons. UPDATE AFTER 15 LESSONS: I stopped after 15 lessons because honestly it will take me a long time to process and apply everything Hernan has given me. I will be applying it to my large portfolio of compositions, and I know my compositions are going to be much more mature and well-crafted after I apply what I have learnt to them. I have a completely tranformed attitude and understanding of music composition and orchestration craft. I thought it was simply a matter of learning additional material to get me to the advanced level of the masters. But I have learnt it is a whole world of nuances, subtleties and experience that the masters had a grasp of that allowed them to create at that level. Hernan has given me a good initiation into that world. I have also acquired tools and skills that will allow me to continue the journey on my own. Thank you Hernan.

Stephen
Stephen's lesson on harmony was just what I needed! I had a few specific questions to brush up on, and he explained everything super clearly and in a way that made it easy to apply to my work. He's knowledgeable and approachable—I’d definitely recommend him to anyone looking to deepen their understanding of music theory! Or if you're like me and need a quick refresh of all the things you forgot years ago from school 😅

Guitar lessons in South East London. Learn how to play guitar, write songs, pass grades, or learn music theory. (Peckham)
Lou
Highly recommended! It was really nice to receive a message from Lou regarding our search for guitar lessons! Due to corona and a closed school, my 13 year old had more time to play guitar and she wanted to learn more about composition/scales. How cool that for online lessons, distance is no obstacle (we live in Luxembourg). We highly recommend Lou's enthusiastic and professional lessons!
