I spend significant time developing a strong knowledge of the foundations of maths and key ideas that are needed to underpin future learning. Connections within maths are emphasised so that students develop deep learning. Students are encouraged to look for patterns and relationships, think mathematically and talk about their findings. In order to reduce the demand on students' memory to free up more space for the learning of new concepts, we also focus on learning to automaticity key facts such as times tables, number bonds and addition facts. I review progress with children and parents and give advice on practical strategies in order to support learners in the home.

In my experience of mosque tuition I found that in teaching there are two main and important qualities that a student/teacher relationship should have: the ability for the student to feel comfortable to ask the teacher for help and the ability for the teacher to help the student in the way they think will benefit the student most. I can confidently say that my experience in mosque teaching has allowed me to expand in my teaching skills and the way in which it is appropriate to teach students of different ages and abilities. My teaching methodology is dependent on my student and there willingness to learn. If I see a student is happy to individually study, I would allow them to work through a book and come to me for support when encountering areas of difficulty. If not, I would work with them through the book, ensuring they understand each individual topic before moving to the next. I have taught students one year above me as well as many younger kids. I have taught from the age range of 7-15.

Benoit is friendly and patient and has a good sense of when to challenge and when to take a step back. My son, who is 8, really likes his lessons very much. He loves math, especially working with big numbers, and at school it isn't always possible to work on calculations as he would like. After few lessons he already learned new techniques for calculations he likes to experiment with and Benoit also managed to challenge him to try some new and more advanced things. I think this type of lessons is more tricky to prepare, at least until the teacher gets to know well the capacities and character of the child, as there are not based on the child's curriculum or homework to be done. Benoit is always open to discussion and if my son finds something too challenging, they take a step back and try another way or just agree to try another time when my son feels ready for it.

So far, I've been getting help with my IGCSE 's in Math and Computer Science with Amin. In most of the lessons I've been with him, he's been really helpful and responsible. He has also been very patient. He helps me become more confident in my answers and makes the lessons pretty fun! After my lessons with him, I do understand my topics more and am able to go to my classes in school without feeling lost.
