I run my lessons in 4 steps. Step 1 (content knowledge): I get to know how much the student already knows about the topic. Depending on their level of understanding I will go over crucial subject content and make sure to cover any knowledge gaps. Step 2: I go over practice questions with the student and give them tips on how to tackle the questions and how to answer effectively in order to obtain full marks. Step 3: I give students past paper questions to independently try them. I then mark them and go over any questions they got wrong. I then give them more questions that are similar to the questions they got wrong. Step 4: I quiz the students to make sure there’s no knowledge gap in the specific topic before moving on to a next topic. My aim is to teach students just like the way I like to be taught. Making sure the environment is friendly so that the students can freely ask questions without being intimidated. I am very passionate about making sure that my teaching helps as many students as possible so that they can achieve the top grades. I have previously taught 11+ students in a private tuition. Although I don’t have a broad work experience in teaching but being the eldest daughter I have always taught my younger siblings who both go to a grammar school. I have always helped my friends and classmates in school as well. I have always been a top achiever. I am also a medical applicant with a medical school offer. I can assure you that I will teach my students with complete hard work and dedication.

Hello, I am a mathematics masters student specializing in algebra, geometry and number theory. I have graduated from the university of Groningen with a bachelor in mathematics. As such, I've spent a great deal of time studying mathematics at a higher level and have become acquainted with a broad range of mathematical disciplines such as algebra, geometry, analysis, calculus, probability, optimization and more, this of-course includes any high school mathematics. During my studies I working as a teaching assistant whenever possible so I have some experience teaching. In mathematics there are often many ways to come to the same conclusion and it varies from person to person what they consider easiest to understand. As such I try to get to know the student first and figure out how they may learn best. Personally, I rely a lot on intuition and deep understanding of concepts and so i try to convey to students the most essential and fundamental ideas before moving on, as well as, giving them interpretations of what is happening so that they may becomes easier to imagine and more tangible. In solving any problem, I think it is important to first sit back and understand what is going on before embarking on any calculation or proofs. In a typical class I would first survey what the student already knows and discuss the concepts with them making sure they understand them very well then we would move on to discussing examples and non-examples (this would take most of the class). Finally we would solve problems together discussing them as we go along. This of course can vary from student to student, their level and time available.

Hello everyone, I'm Megs, a 4th year Medical Student who achieved 4 A*s at A Level in Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Chemistry. I would love to pass on my knowledge to others So the way I teach is very reflective of how you learn, but I always try to encorporate questions into my teaching. I will do sessions based on topics you tell me you need help on, and then I try to do questions to get an idea of where your understanding is. I will set up increasing difficulty to allow you to build on what you already know, instead of wasting time doing content you are already fully comfortable with. This helps make sessions proficient and not waste your time. I always make my own slides using exam style questions found online, and explaining the content in my own words. I find doing it this way helps me better understand knowledge before I relay it onto you, and ultimately then makes more sense to yourself. I use both explanations from the very basics of the content and the questions to get the most out of sessions, and I can bounce back and forth. My previous tutee preferred to go over content from the basics regardless of her level, for content refreshers, and then to go onto questions, so I am flexible in how I use my resources based on how you learn. I have experience in AQA and edexcel exam boards, and other exam boards tend to overlap so I am happy to look over other exam boards to let you know if I am capable of covering those as well as AQA and Edexcel, but I unfortunately have no experience in other equivalents
