Too many Mandarin teachers focus on practicing modern Chinese without teaching the etymology of the characters in order to understand the evolution of such a rich language over time. Understanding the evolution of the language and its characteristics is therefore essential for me, according to the Inalco method. In the Chinese language, I think the most important thing is to focus on reading and oral comprehension, as well as oral practice through conversation above all.
