With thirteen years' teaching experience, in universities, private institutes, secondary schools and as a private tutor, I have a PhD in Comparative Literature and a broad understanding of learning techniques and approaches. I am friendly, approachable, and will tailor my teaching to your needs, objectives, likes and dislikes. With expertise across English and Anglophone Literature, theory and criticism, Comparative and French Literature, different exams and curricula, I feel confident helping you achieve your aims, whether personal, professional, or exam based. My research focuses on contemporary poetry, postcolonial literature, music and popular culture, ecopoetry and nature writing. I have taught a whole range of periods, movements and critical approaches. I also have many years' experience teaching English as a second language, including conversation skills for different contexts. I also teach writing skills, both professional and academic (including essay writing), and am happy to tailor classes to specific aims (for an event, a presentation, an interview, a specific professional field). I think that teaching works best when it works on your level: you can learn English through discussion of music, TV series, books, and more - I am happy to integrate grammar and learning points into this. In terms of Literature, we can approach a book, author, poem, play, theoretical work, movement or moment, together, and in different ways, drawing on the classes and materials I have developed over ten years in leading Parisian universities (I have also worked in the British and US university contexts). I am also happy to teach creative writing skills - particularly poetry and non-fiction, so please feel free to ask about this, too!

I am offering personalized Italian lessons, based on the needs and preferences of the student. I am available both to those who want to start discovering this language and to those who already have a good level of knowledge of Italian and wish to master it. It is important to be able to communicate right from the start in Italian, regardless of the level of knowledge you are beginning from; for this very reason, lessons are mainly in Italian and place particular emphasis on dialogue. My lessons are also aimed at those who are writing “papers” (dissertations, university texts, conferences, articles, work emails) and need corrections, feedback or commentary. For those who know Italian well and would like to study or explore a particular author or literary text, I am available for analysis, readings and specific lessons on the required topic.

HI, I'm Alessandro, I'm from Naples and I'm 30 years old. I love American literature specifically but I get easily curious when it comes to novelist and novelists of the 1900s. This is combined with the pleasure of searching the stalls for unknown and interesting titles. I'm part of a literary magazine and I write poems and short stories. Also, I like cooking, I practice Karate and I like camping in the mountains. And, of course, I love teaching! I taught English as a private tutor to Italian and foreign students. I have helped learners of different ages and with different goals (university exams, reinforcement of basic skills, questions) to become independent and creative in using the language. I prepared two lessons in Portuguese on Neapolitan culture and language as part of a cycle of masterclasses on Elena Ferrante's tetralogy. I interfaced with European and Brazilian clients to give some interpretations on some aspects that I considered crucial to my culture. In the second lesson, however, I provided some rudiments of phonetics and grammar, as well as a list of sayings and idiomatic phrases used, in large part, by the Neapolitans daily. I believe that a lesson should focus on the learner's personal goals while organizing a spiral path that looks at grammar, vocabulary, and the use of the language in specific contexts and for daily tasks. We will help ourselves with multimedia elements such as articles, short videos, audio files, interviews, grammar, and conversation exercises. I would be happy to know what are your goals, your learning strategies, and preferences regarding the course (e.g. duration) and to have a chat ;). I'll send you a form to ask you something about your interests (e.g. what books you read/films you watch) and then we can organize a first introductory lesson. Write me to start learning a musical, colorful, and passionate language
