he language of Allah and Muhammad is spoken by over 200 million people in 28 countries from Africa to the Middle East. Muslims in the world revere Arabic as the language of the Holy Qur’an. The Holy Qur’an has preserved Arabic in its purest form in the eyes of Muslims, describing itself as a “clear Arabic book”. Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) is the official language throughout the Arab world, and, in its written form, it is relatively consistent across national boundaries. MSA is used in official documents, in educational settings, and for communication between Arabs of different nationalities. However, the spoken forms of Arabic vary widely, and each Arab country has its own dialect. Dialects are spoken in most informal settings, such as at home, with friends, or while shopping. Of all spoken dialects, Egyptian Arabic is the most widely understood, due primarily to Egypt’s role as the major producer of movies and TV programmes in the Arab world. Being one of the quirkiest in the world, the actual script reads from right to left with an alphabet containing 28 consonants. There are various types of Arabic script, some more intricate than others. The best known are “Kufic” and “Thuluth”. Arabic script has been used for decorative purposes all over the Muslim world in mosques, houses and other buildings. This is possible as the writing flows in a beautifully stylised fashion. Today, words of Arabic origin can be found in some European languages such as Portuguese and Spanish, due to periods of Arab reign in those countries. English words of Arabic origin include “zero”, “algebra”, “alcohol”, “mosque”, “tariff”, “alcove”, “magazine”, “elixir”, “sultan” and “cotton”. Overall, Arabic translation services play an important role in todays world.

Hi there! My name is Anna and I am a native English speaker living in North Holland. I currently teach English at a bilingual school to vwo/havo/vmbo students (secondary school students). Next to that I tutor English professionally from A2 to C1 level. If you want to improve your written/spoken English in a professional business setting, then I can assist with this. I can also help prepare students for language exams, or improve their general English proficiency. I have worked as a teacher for over 5 years and during that time I have gained experience teaching to students as young as 4 years old, as well as adults. I am open to tutoring any age from A2 level and up. I am currently available Monday late afternoons/evenings, Wednesday late afternoons/evenings, and Friday late afternoon/evenings. I am flexible on weekends. About me: I studied psychology and organizational leadership in the US. I worked as a primary school teacher and then as a high school teacher in the US, in addition to tutoring independently and at tutoring centers. After relocating here, I attended Utrecht universiteit to become a certified teacher in the Netherlands. I currently work at a bilingual school and teach English grammar and literature to students between 12 and 16 years of age. I spend my limited free time cooking in excess and feeding my friends/neighbors/colleagues, or exploring the city, or taking care of my two unnamed fish, or attempting to bake (I am bad a terrible baker, ironic given my name!). Ultimately, I am passionate about teaching and learning, so that is how I spend most of my days.
