HI, I'm Alessandro, I'm from Naples and I'm 30 years old. I love American literature specifically but I get easily curious when it comes to novelist and novelists of the 1900s. This is combined with the pleasure of searching the stalls for unknown and interesting titles. I'm part of a literary magazine and I write poems and short stories. Also, I like cooking, I practice Karate and I like camping in the mountains. And, of course, I love teaching! I taught English as a private tutor to Italian and foreign students. I have helped learners of different ages and with different goals (university exams, reinforcement of basic skills, questions) to become independent and creative in using the language. I prepared two lessons in Portuguese on Neapolitan culture and language as part of a cycle of masterclasses on Elena Ferrante's tetralogy. I interfaced with European and Brazilian clients to give some interpretations on some aspects that I considered crucial to my culture. In the second lesson, however, I provided some rudiments of phonetics and grammar, as well as a list of sayings and idiomatic phrases used, in large part, by the Neapolitans daily. I believe that a lesson should focus on the learner's personal goals while organizing a spiral path that looks at grammar, vocabulary, and the use of the language in specific contexts and for daily tasks. We will help ourselves with multimedia elements such as articles, short videos, audio files, interviews, grammar, and conversation exercises. I would be happy to know what are your goals, your learning strategies, and preferences regarding the course (e.g. duration) and to have a chat ;). These classes are designed for learners who fall into different categories based on background, age, knowledge and needs. Reading, games and projects play a crucial role in all my lessons, which are professionally planned but delivered in an easygoing manner. Homework is optional but recommended. As a native speaker of English aged 7-18, you will perfect your skills in reading, writing and verbal communication in preparation for school exams such as SATS, GCSE, A levels. Your strengths and weaknesses will be assessed and used to create personalised schemes of work so as to fully prepare you for all the requirements of the English curriculum taught in school be it national or international. As a learner of English as a foreign language aged 18+, you will be taught to effectively communicate using a wide range of vocabulary, to be able to write for basic purposes—to complain, request information, summarise, describe etc—, to clearly understand texts written to entertain, argue, inform, describe. Whether you want to learn English for general communication, to prepare for a national or international exam or you are simply required to be more fluent in English by your employer, your needs will form the foundation of the course. As a learner of English as a foreign language aged 10-18, you will speak, play and learn. There will be reading involved so as to be introduced to a variety of genres, improve pronunciation, broaden vocabulary and have lots of topics to discuss. All materials (textbooks, workbooks, teacher’s notes) will be sent to you in pdf format allowing you to print and reuse it any time.
