As a native English speaker and near native Italian speaker, I can help you from the basics, to helping you correct university level papers, and to just sitting down and having a chat with you! I have had past experience with tutoring and am flexible towards what my students want. If you're looking for someone to give you weekly homework, and to teach you grammar and vocabulary then I can do just that (with an entertaining, laidback feel to it). I don't want learning a language to feel like a chore, or a burden, therefore I put a lot of effort in making my classes interesting, new, and fun to ensure you take the most out of it. If you would like to know more about who I am, or need any help in English and Italian I am ready to help! My goal is to guide and help the students grasp a high level of understanding in the basics of English language skills, ESL, and Italian. Moreover, I aim, with the students, to achieve a more advanced level for the students in speaking, reading, and understanding. I can assure flexibility in my lessons. If students find they already know something quite well, I will not dwell on such topics too long and will move on to other topics that are new to them, or of interest. My goal is to provide a focused session in which the student is really the center of attention, where all their needs are met.

Al meer dan 30 jaar geef ik met passie individuele en groepslessen aan mensen van alle niveaus. Ik ben Gianni, een geboren en getogen Florentijn die al geruime tijd in Delft woont. Florence, de bakermat van de Italiaanse taal, is ook de stad van Dante Alighieri, de grondlegger van het moderne Italiaans. Nee, we zijn geen familie 😉, maar net zoals Haarlem in Nederland bekend staat om zijn ABN-uitspraak, wordt het Italiaans uit Florence beschouwd als de standaardtaal. Dit authentieke Italiaans draag ik met trots over in mijn lessen. Professionele ervaring Momenteel ben ik docent Italiaans bij de Volksuniversiteit Delft, na eerder vier jaar les te hebben gegeven bij de Volksuniversiteit Rotterdam. Naast mijn werk als docent ben ik ook professioneel zanger van traditionele Italiaanse volksliederen. Deze passie integreer ik graag in mijn lessen, omdat muziek een krachtige tool is om een taal te leren. Bekende teksten en melodieën maken het leerproces niet alleen leuker, maar ook effectiever. Wow! I have to say I never had a language teacher like this! We spent the first meeting assessing the language level, and I don't mean A2 or B1, he evaluated my capabilities individually. In the evening he sent me countless multimedia sources that I could use to train all facets of the language at my level. He is very invested and expects the same from you, if you want a relaxed language class once a week that keeps you in your comfort zone and at the same level he is not for you. I decided to follow along and do as much as I could. Doing two classes a week I learned more Spanish than I would have ever thought to be possible!!! Furthermore, he takes care of your cultural education, a few weeks in the language journey we had a class at his house where he cooked an amazing dinner and we talked until late in the night. I recommend this amazing teacher 12/10!

My lesson with Paolo was super comfortable and well structured. He made sure to understand my level, my goals and adjusted his teaching accordingly. I learned a lot, especially because he introduced me to new language learning techniques as well, that I hadn’t expected would work as well for me as they did. It was definitely one of the best lessons I’ve had so far and I plan to continue with Paolo as well~
