I am passionate about working with children and young people and have done this for over 12 years working in schools, social services and charities. I have worked with children and young people experiencing homelessness, in local authority care, and who are receiving weekly support from agencies. I have also worked with families whose children are home schooled and world schooled. I love nothing more than seeing children and young people's confidence increase as they learn new skills and information. I also have over 12 years experience working with children, young people and adults with learning difficulties/learning disabilities/disabilities/additional needs ranging from ADHD to ASD to global development delay and understand the need to adapt tutoring accordingly dependent on the individual's needs. I am living in the UK but will be soon travelling the world with my son and exploring the world schooling lifestyle so love the fact I can tutor from wherever I am in the world. I tutor the following subjects and levels: English (from nursery to year 9) Welsh (from nursery to GCSE), History (from nursery to GCSE), Religious Studies (from nursery to GCSE), French (from nursery to GCSE) All of the above subjects were my favourite subjects in school. Mathematics (primary school age - in English and Welsh; secondary school age to GCSE - in Welsh only) Geography (nursery to year 9) Science (primary school age - in English and Welsh; secondary school age to GCSE - in Welsh only) I am also happy to tutor students who are learning English and Welsh and want to improve their skills with a native speaker. I can also tutor functional skills. I can also tutor through the medium of Welsh as I am a native Welsh speaker and completed all my education through the medium of Welsh. I can also tutor English as a second and/or foreign language to children and young people (ESL/EFL). I enjoy exam preparation work and adapt how I tutor dependent on the needs of the student. A bit about me, I love travelling, spending time with my children and grandchild, learning about other cultures, Netflix binges, reading (I am a huge bookworm) and enjoy keeping fit. I love dance-I am an ex-dancemum as my daughter was a passionate dancer from a young age and I used to own a dance workshop business bringing choreographers from abroad to the UK. I am a very patient, kind and caring person and will try my best to make sure that any student is happy with how I work and if they aren't I will adapt my ways to suit them as they are the ones that need to benefit from it and if something I am doing doesn't work then I will try different ways until they are happy. I am a firm believer in letting children and young people lead the session even if I am working on specific topics but I keep them focused on the task at hand too.

Trusted teacher: Do you have trouble with History? I'm coming to save you! History is a subject with many questions, from which one can learn a lot. Questions about the past, or questions about the present. I am Merijn, 20 years old, and student of History at the Free University of Amsterdam. Ever since primary school, I have been interested in the profession. In addition, I spend a lot of free time reading subject-related books and watching programs, documentaries, etc.. I took the history course at the Atheneum and eventually passed. I still had a hard time answering questions on my test. I often wrote 8 pages full just to make sure I got something right, haha. Giving witty, relevant answers is very important here, and I've learned to master this over the years. I can help with questions from primary school level, up to 6th year VWO, in which it does not matter which period in history this is about. In addition, I can help with teaching material offered by your school, but I can also bring my own material or ask other questions, which might make it just a bit easier to understand. Hopefully I'm speaking to you, because I'm always ready to answer questions and help you to get a better grade or better mastery of the subject!
