Hola! Experience I have a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Glasgow and a master’s degree in Investment and Finance from the University of Strathclyde. As a natural extrovert, I worked in Sales and Customer Service for about two years. During this time, I was responsible for training new sales recruits and fellow customer service representatives. Recently at Morgan Stanley, an investment bank, I took on the responsibility of training my team’s newest member who had zero work experience. Training colleagues at work is quite like tutoring; to teach anyone requires a lot of energy, patience, and positivity – three things that I have in spades. It also requires being comfortable with explaining things multiple times and sometimes in different ways. Regrettably, most people lack compassion when teaching because they forget with time just how useless they felt at the start of their first job, or even their fifth job. Similarly, after mastering a subject a teacher can easily forget how much they struggled with it at school. Fortunately, I have a good memory. You will find me to be a very understanding and enthusiastic tutor. To the Student If you are reading this, it means that you have an ambition. That ambition might be getting into your dream university, landing a great job straight out of school, or simply being the best that you can be! If you put in the work, I promise I’ll help you achieve your goals. The road to success is a succession of smart decisions (say that quickly ten times) and seeking help is one of those smart decisions. There is nothing wrong with seeking help; no one in history has ever become successful without it. I had plenty of tutoring when I was at school, and it helped me get the grades that some of my teachers never believed I would get. I hope that your teachers are more encouraging than mine were, but the reality is that schoolteachers think in averages. If a teacher’s class average is an A, but the worst student gets a D, that teacher will celebrate. As your tutor, I will only celebrate when you get the grade you want. My classes are not going to be lectures, that wouldn’t be any fun for either of us. Each session will be focused on what you feel you need help with, and we will go through practice questions together. But don’t worry, it’ll be a lot more fun than you think! Just imagine how good it will feel to walk out of each exam with a smile on your face, knowing that you aced it. It’s an awesome feeling, I can’t wait for you to experience it for yourself! To the Parents My guess is you are reading this because you are not totally satisfied with the education being provided at your child’s school. As someone who received plenty of discouragement from teachers, from primary school all through most of high school, I appreciate the effect this can have on a student’s learning. It can also be tough for a student in a class of 20 to 30 to get the attention he/she needs from the teacher. I will be a refreshing change to what your child is used to. The most obvious advantage to private tutoring is that your child will have my undivided attention. Another advantage is that, without the distraction of peer pressure in school classes, your child will have the confidence to speak up more and ask questions judgement free. It will amaze you just how quickly your child will improve after a few tutoring sessions. Ultimately, I’m here to get your child top grades. No matter what grades your child is achieving now, I guarantee that the top grades are still attainable. It’s just a matter of learning and practice. Between school and tutoring, your child will get plenty of both. If you are interested in private tutoring, I would love to discuss how I might be of service.

I am a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic teacher of physics, maths and economics. I have a PhD in Physics from the University of Glasgow, where I studied the sub-atomic and quantum effects of interactions between high intensity laser beams and aromatic molecules. I also have an M.Sci. degree in Physics from the University of Glasgow and an M.Sc. in Economic Management and Policy from the University of Strathclyde. I am also a UK qualified teacher with a PGCE from Nottingham University. Since qualifying as a secondary school teacher in 2014 I have taught at some of Europe’s most prestigious schools. Most of my current work involves teaching highly personalised lessons to students wishing to improve or excel at the IB, A Level or GCSE exams. I have also helped physics undergraduate students to improve both their theoretical knowledge and their experimental skills. Before becoming a full-time tutor I worked as a research scientist and, later, as a medical physicist. So I bring not only a strong passion for science and maths into my lessons but a practical, real-world context for the subjects. I help students achieve the highest possible grades by tackling their areas of difficulty and building their confidence. My aim is to ensure students understand the fundamental concepts in order to build knowledge and apply this in exams. My educational background: 1999-2002 Ph.D. Physics, University of Glasgow 1994-1998 M.Sci. Physics, University of Glasgow 2013-2014 PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), Nottingham University 2009-2012 M.Sc. Economic Management and Policy (distance learning), University of Strathclyde

You already know a lot more about economics than you might imagine. Each day, you make economic decisions, such as choosing between two teachers at Apprentus. You also come to class with years of experience in Economic matters. If you are in the UK and are 14 years old and above, you might have worked part-time before and therefore supplied your labour. Supply of labour is an important concept that you might have heard of or learnt about. Do not worry if it is new to you - you may study it if you take this class. But as you may have realized, it is something related to work, so if you have worked before, you know it already. Given students' prior experiences, I teach through examples that draw on these experiences. These examples build bridges from the familiar to the unfamiliar. Through this approach to teaching, I became one of the sought-after Economics tutors in my previous schools, where I worked with students at Key Stages 4 and 5, fostering in them a love for Economics. I bring a well-rounded understanding of AQA AS/A level and GCSE Economics Specifications and familiarity with the following textbooks: 1. Powell, James., Powell, Ray., & Horner, David. (2023). AQA a-Level Economics (5th ed.). Hodder Education Group (AQA Approved) 2. McEachern, W. A. . (2006). Economics: a contemporary introduction (7th ed.). Thomson/South-Western. Though the course is designed to help learners studying AQA GCSE or A Level Economics, it is appropriate for learners studying other specifications such as ORC Economics and all lovers of the subjects.
