Serious endeavouring to entertain through media studies, particularly filmmaking, and current affairs. After studying media and film, I worked at the BBC from 1989 to 1991 mainly as an assistant to chief documentary editor Jane Val Baker. The following years, I directed several short films on communal subjects such as poverty, classism, racism, homelessness, social division and poverty. Throughout this decade I worked on numerous pop video clips (as an art director and director), and also TV commercials, eventually directing a Lee cooper ad. Towards the end of the 199O’s I directed a documentary on the popular hip- hop group the Fugees, before moving to Paris, France where I directed ‘Actress’, a wry comedy produced by the renowned Parisian production company Mic-Mac In 2002 I wrote and directed my first feature film ‘Toothache’ aka ‘Rage De Dent’, a bitter satirical comedy following a group of bored middle class artists and their troubles in love during a weekend in Paris. Starring Julie Depardieu, Ludivine Sagnier ‘Toothache’ (rage de dent) was produced by Arte France Cinema and Mic Mac productions. My second feature length film ‘Nadine’ was shot in September 2006. The film follows a teenage self-harmer her fatal battle with mental health issues. Nadine premiered at the Odyssee Cinema in Strasbourg, France in July 2008 as part of the British cycle of films alongside Ken Loach’s ‘The wind that shakes the barley’ and Stephan Frear’s ‘The Queen’. It was also shown in competition at Ghent film festival and Cork film festival, Rome international Film festival and several other international festivals. Between 2011 and 2016, I was the co-author of several documentaries produced by France Televisions and the French-German TV channel ARTE. In 2019 I was the co-author on the feature docudrama ‘In our paradise’, produced by Idéale Audience and directed by Claudia Marschal. ‘In our paradise’ premiered at DOC/FEST Sheffield in June 2019, and was selected at the Sarajevo Film Festival in August 2019, at the YIDFF in October 2019 and at the Cork Film Festival in November 2019. 2020 saw the completion of my 3rd film as a feature film director with the existentialist thriller ‘Man in wood’ featuring a special guest appearance from the talented singer/actress Lauryn Hill. Whilst also during the same year I created ‘The Black Victory’, an independent production and promotion platform for film, music and cultural content. The teaser for ‘In the greenhouse’, a pysclogical thriller which I wrote and will direct This innovative digital platform has links to several other social network platforms and is currently developing an all female podcast that aims to tackle diverse subjects from voices that are powerful, engaging, yet rarely given the spotlight they merit.

A class in French to learn to speak, read, and write in French. The learners are encouraged to speak in French when answering questions to learn proper sentence structure and pronunciation. A curriculum can be developed to match the learner's levels and goals with homework and a test at the end. No need to purchase books, I provide the pdf's. I am also available virtually for any questions that your learner may have during the week. This class can also be as a tutor to support the learner's current curriculum in school is also doable. Reach out with any questions, or days and times you might prefer if you don't see anything that matches your preferences. What parent's say?: My 7-year-old daughter's confidence in her French has grown significantly in Laura's French class. She attends a trilingual school and was initially struggling to keep up with all the languages. Laura's teaching has not only boosted her confidence but also improved her participation, as noted by her French teacher during our recent parent-teacher conference. Laura ensures that every student, no matter the class size, has a chance to speak a significant amount during her lessons, and her caring approach to diverse learning abilities is impressive. Both my sons, 17 and 16, have been taking French lessons with Laura, and she is an exceptional teacher. She's patient, fun, interesting, personable, understanding, and on top of it. We are hoping she offers more classes that we can sign up for :) My daughter has loved taking French from Laura for the last year and a half. And I can honestly say that if I had a teacher like Laura when I was in my high school French classes, I would still be speaking French. She has a great way of communicating with the kids and helping them feel comfortable learning and loving a new language. Outstanding teacher! Great with kids and very organized lessons! Laura is always supportive of the students. I saw my student progress in French and my student felt more confident in French language study. She attempts to make it a mostly immersive experience, but never leaves students confused about what she is saying.

German courses for all levels at home or online (Tunis)
Khalil
I recommend Khalil without a doubt to anyone looking to improve his/her German level in both writing and speaking. He is a very professional, structured and knowledgeable teacher. He was able to immediately evaluate my level of German during the very first lesson and adjust the teaching methodology and materials accordingly. I am truly impressed with his patience and dedication towards teaching the proper German pronunciation with all its complexities and difficulties as well as the proper rules when it comes to grammar and language. We also had lessons using Skype which is also a good option for those who have a limited amount of spare time or are too far apart from the teacher. It is obvious that Khalil loves what he is doing and is willing to put all his effort into his passion. I wholeheartedly recommend Khalil for anyone wanting to learn the language.

Private lessons to learn Japanese culture and language (Hettange-Grande)
Maki
For a long time I had been looking for a Japanese teacher in Luxembourg for private lessons until I found Maki-sensei. Her teaching style is really meeting my needs: she is encouraging me to talk more in Japanese while working on my vocabulary and grammar. She is using a range of teaching materials, such as text books, audio clips, short movie-clips, and articles from web-sites, which makes her lessons very enjoyable and rewarding. After the lesson Maki-sensei provides me with a write-up with newly learned words and corrections. I am always looking forward to the next lesson and strongly recommend her for anybody wanting to learn Japanese or about Japanese culture.

Sanghee
I already had a few lessons with Sanghee and I can definitely recommend her! Her patient and interactive teaching style work very well together with her well planned, organized lessons and her nice personality. Her classes are completely in Korean so that in itself teaches you a lot and will improve your speaking abilities immediately, especially if speaking in Korean is still difficult for you. If you don't understand something she of course will switch to English. The homework also keeps my study drive going and I already have the feeling that I can express myself better in Korean. :)
