I am a professional actress and movement director and I deliver one-to-one drama tuition sessions and full day workshops that are tailored to suit your individual needs. I have worked as an acting teacher and public speaking coach for all age groups (from ages 3 - 80!) for 24 years and it is a great passion and privilege of mine to assist in this way, seeing my students' evolution. I have both a diploma and a degree in Acting (LAMDA, Associate Acting Diploma/ Rose Bruford, BA Hons Acting) and I have trained with Gecko physical theatre company. As well as performing for decades on stage and on screen, I have also run The Bedlam Bunch Children's Theatre and Entertainment since 2007, through which I have written and directed numerous stage plays as well as interactive, immersive shows for children aged 3 - 9 years. I also founded and ran Outburst Theatre from 2010 - 2019 as a platform to bring communities together in South East London via educational theatre projects. As a solo artist, I have written and produced three one-woman stage shows - "Raw Cake", "Through the Hourglass" and "The Wonky Shonky Show" - all performed in London, UK. Trusted teacher: My classes involve a mixture of discovering poetry in its diverse forms and responding to writing exercises. All activities have the aim of expanding the student's personal relationship with this incredible art form and developing their power to self-express creatively. We will look at how poetry continues to challenge the status quo and can act as a space for connection, emotional healing and rebirth in climates of limitation and struggle. I am passionate about teaching poetry writing because I have seen how beneficial the sharing and crafting of poetry is for mental health; I want to bring this passion into people's lives and am as excited to learn from each student's insights and creations as I am to impart knowledge and feedback. I am an experienced tutor and published poet with a first-class honours degree in English and Spanish from Durham University. My anthology "Poems of Hope", on the subject of mental health, was published in 2019 to fundraise for Mind UK. I am currently studying part-time postgraduate course in teaching creative writing with Cambridge University to complement writing and teaching. I have 5+ years of experience tutoring English and have devised and delivered poetry workshops for vulnerable adults as well as tutored creative writing throughout the pandemic. I have also spent a year working with SEN students in secondary education as a teaching assistant. I am a tutor with 7+ years of experience teaching at a variety of levels from primary school to GCSE level. I teach English Language, English Literature, ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), Maths, and Creative Writing. I have a special passion for creative writing, which I specifically studied in my joint honours degree (BA English with Creative Writing), and specialise in producing stories, written poetry, and spoken word poetry which I have previously performed at events. I have run creative writing workshops for children at previous educational centres and love to make writing enjoyable, engaging and exciting for all of my students at all levels. I believe the most successful results come from fostering a friendship with my students, and providing constant encouragement and support in their areas of interest. I pride am an attentive listener and I carefully plan my lessons according to the specific needs of my students, which is particularly helpful for my SEN, ESOL, and younger pupils. At the beginning of every lesson I also do short icebreaker activities and challenges with my students, using a points reward system to keep them engaged. Previous students have gone on to become the top of their class and receive recognition at school for both English and Maths. Lessons start at 1 hour in length, with longer lessons available if required. Lessons are structured according to the needs of the student; this can be working alongside their class syllabus to support them with progress at school, tackling an area or subject they want to excel at, and helping them prepare for national exams such as GCSEs. I provide feedback after every lesson and detailed progress reports every six months for each student. I primarily offer online lessons as I have found this works well for me and my students, but in some cases I do teach face-to-face depending on location and availability within London.
