Trusted teacher: Good morning ! My name is Raphaël and I have been at EPFL for 5 years. Graduated with a Bachelor in Mathematics from EPFL, I am a specialist in academic assistance for mathematics and computer science. I have a lot of experience helping and supporting first-year university students, and I have numerous assistantships for the most demanding courses at EPFL (Analysis, Algebra, Geometry, Machine Learning, Analysis Digital etc.). I have accompanied many students during the course and I know the challenges encountered by the students. I carry out real work of reframing and monitoring the student, while ensuring an atmosphere encouraging the student's personal progress. I am currently at Harvard finalizing my Master's thesis, and looking to assist students in Switzerland. My experience : - 9 assistantships for EPFL courses from 1st Year to Master level (Analysis, Algebra, Geometry, Numerical Analysis, Programming, Machine Learning, MAN, etc.). - EPFL assistant training certification. - Experience as a Mentor for 1st Year students (learning monitoring). - Correction and assistance with writing projects and exams for the Machine Learning Master course at EPFL. - Several years of experience in python and C++. My curriculum : - Bachelor in Mathematics from EPFL (5.01/6) - Bachelor thesis (6/6) - Master in Data Science from EPFL (5.4/6) - Master's thesis at Harvard (in progress!) I am very flexible on working conditions and locations, but here are some examples of private lessons: - Online availability on Zoom, I have a tablet and a pen for optimal working conditions. - Directly on the EPFL campus to save you additional transport. - Possibility of working in groups with your friends with different prices. Students of all levels are welcome and of course my help will be adapted according to the needs and objectives of the student. Whether it is for a one-day private lesson to resolve a few problems, or monitoring and support during the semester, I will endeavor to offer the best assistance to the student.

Mathematics involves the description and manipulation of abstract objects that consist of either abstractions from nature or—in modern mathematics—purely abstract entities that are stipulated to have certain properties, called axioms. Mathematics uses pure reason to prove properties of objects, a proof consisting of a succession of applications of deductive rules to already established results. These results include previously proved theorems, axioms, and—in case of abstraction from nature—some basic properties that are considered true starting points of the theory under consideration.[1] Mathematics is essential in the natural sciences, engineering, medicine, finance, computer science, and the social sciences. Although mathematics is extensively used for modeling phenomena, the fundamental truths of mathematics are independent of any scientific experimentation. Some areas of mathematics, such as statistics and game theory, are developed in close correlation with their applications and are often grouped under applied mathematics. Other areas are developed independently from any application (and are therefore called pure mathematics) but often later find practical applications.[2][3] Historically, the concept of a proof and its associated mathematical rigour first appeared in Greek mathematics, most notably in Euclid's Elements.[4] Since its beginning, mathematics was primarily divided into geometry and arithmetic (the manipulation of natural numbers and fractions), until the 16th and 17th centuries, when algebra[a] and infinitesimal calculus were introduced as new fields. Since then, the interaction between mathematical innovations and scientific discoveries has led to a correlated increase in the development of both.[5] At the end of the 19th century, the foundational crisis of mathematics led to the systematization of the axiomatic method,[6] which heralded a dramatic increase in the number of mathematical areas and their fields of application. The contemporary Mathematics Subject Classification lists more than sixty first-level areas of mathematics.

Belka
She is teaching math in a simple way and repeating whenever student needs. She gives a lot of examples which made me understand the topic better. I didn’t expect that I’ll have a such good experience from online math class. Thank you so much!

Chloe
Chloé helped me with my university intro to calculus course specifically for my third midterm. My grade improved significantly on the third midterm with her help! We struggled with a few problems but my homework tended to be very tidious.
