Trusted teacher: I am a UCL Biological Sciences student seeking to offer a highly personalised tutoring experience that caters to my students' needs. I currently teach from Year 7 upwards with a speciality in exam preparation. I teach Geography, RS, Physics, and English from Years 7-11, and Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry from Years 7-13. I aim to understand my tutees' unique concerns and explain concepts simply with many alternative approaches. As someone who has experienced obstacles to my own learning, I have a lot of empathy for students struggling with their learning, particularly those with learning differences and endeavour to develop an approach that works for them. I was a strong student in secondary school (Queen’s College, London) achieving A*s and As (and equivalents) at GCSE and three As at A-Level in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Particularly of note, I received a 9 in GCSE Mathematics, 98% in GCSE Religious Studies, and was awarded a sixth-form academic scholarship. I am an experienced tutor - I participated in a tutoring scheme in secondary school which allowed students from Year 7 to Year 12 to ask any questions they might be struggling with in any subject they wished. This allowed me to continue to engage with my GCSE content during my A-Level years and taught me how to listen to and understand the particular needs of each student at a given moment. I also tutored family and friends of family, allowing me to engage personally with my students and develop a specialised teaching approach. I offer one hour and two hour sessions and am free on weekends, after 5pm, and whenever my university timetable permits. I am generally free at all times outside of university term time.

Hello! I am a first year Geology undergraduate student studying at Imperial College London in the Department of Earth Sciences and Engineering. I am pursuing an integrated, four years, Bachelor's and Masters degree here. I look forward to teaching as I am passionate for helping others learn and succeed not only academically but develop skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and time management which are essential in professional lives too. I enjoy sharing my expertise and learning strategies in particular subjects with other students struggling in them and boosting their confidence and academic performance while they help me improve my own knowledge and interpersonal skills. I am very much familiar with the GCSE and A-level syllabus of Biology and Environmental Management. I believe in providing thorough understanding of a concept from the foundation level and building up on the knowledge according to the ease of the student, providing specific attention and help in difficult areas of study; using diagrams, online videos and lectures to explain the concept in a comprehensive manner. Moreover the students' progress will be monitored and tracked through short weekly assessments based on past paper questions allowing the student to be comfortable with the exam-style questions and avoid falling for the exam pressure. Data analysis: Once the experiments are completed, we will then analyse the data and make graphs or tables to show their results. We will have a discussion on the patterns and trends observed, and ask my student to explain the underlying biological mechanisms. 5. Concept mapping: To consolidate their understanding we will create a concept map or a mind map that summarises the main concepts and relationships involved in the process. 6. Closure: To wrap up the lesson, I will pose some open-ended questions to stimulate further reflection and inquiry. Then, finish with some exam style questions. By following these steps, I can create a student-centred, inquiry-based learning experience that combines hands-on experimentation, data analysis, and concept mapping with collaborative and reflective learning. This type of lesson can help the students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as a deeper understanding of the complex and fascinating world of biology.
