One-on-one tutorial with an award winning contemporary artist to help you to push your work forward thematically and technically, whist helping to realise how your work sits contextually in the world in this time and place. The aims: - To introduce students to a range of ideas about place (e.g. historical, social, psychological) and to selectively use these to develop their individual practice and its conceptual underpinnings. - To support students in developing their practice across a range of media, materials and approaches. - To develop students’ ability to articulate orally and in writing their creative responses to, personal insights into, and critical understanding of, the significance of place and environment to their practice and in the wider field of contemporary art and design. ----------------- - Helping you to articulate an understanding of the critical and conceptual contexts of your art practice. - Encouraging experimentation with forms and approaches to art making and critically reflecting on conceptual and material decisions in the production of contemporary artworks. - Produce artwork that is responsive and demonstrates evidence of experimentation in dialogue with others and in consideration of the ethical dimensions of collaborative practices. - Assist you in critiquing and evaluating the intellectual and technical rationales and processes involved in the production of contemporary artwork for public exhibition

I am an experienced, engaging and versatile tutor of English Literature, Language, Creative Writing and Poetry. I have a BA in English Literature from Aberystwyth University, an MA in Critical Theory and Creative Writing from Sussex University, and a PhD in Critical Theory and Literature, also from Sussex. I am friendly and supportive, and work with a broad range of abilities and ages. I have tutored GCSE and A-level pupils at State schools across the UK, as well as students at independent schools such as Marlborough College, Bedales, Charterhouse and Hurtwood House. For five years I was also writer in residence at Hurtwood House. Previously, I taught English Literature and Critical Theory at Sussex University, and Creative Writing and Performance Skills at Brighton University. I frequently go into schools and colleges to run one-off enrichment sessions, and have developed standalone programmes for youth centres, arts centres, theatres and creative writing retreats. Whether you are looking for some help catching up after an absence, you need ongoing support with English Literature/Language/Creative Writing, or you’re just looking for some guidance and feedback on a particular essay/writing project I will be happy to help! I can also tailor longer courses specifically to meet your needs and/or interests. I am a writer, actor and stage manager by profession, and am the author of: poetry; poetry in translation; plays; academic writings; reviews/essays; and videogames. For more information, or to ask any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Meanwhile, all the best, Dr Rosy

My name is Anita, and I am an interdisciplinary neurodivergent artist. I combine traditional and unconventional teaching methods with an innovative approach, adapted to the fast-paced era we live in, where attention spans can be short. My teaching integrates principles of psychology to better understand each student’s unique needs and aspirations. My goal is to nurture visionary children who have strong foundational values and a humble sense of self. I believe that true artistic mastery comes from human excellence. Also, in this way, students develop true self-confidence by evaluating their success based on personal progress rather than comparing themselves to others. This course is especially recommended for neurodivergent children (with Autism Level 1 - Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Hypersensitivity, and Anxiety) with multiple interests who struggle to choose, focus on, and manage various subjects. It helps develop both technique and discipline, enabling them to navigate multiple creative fields—essentially putting their eggs in several baskets while honing the skills necessary for diverse career opportunities in an uncertain job market. The program encourages a generalist mindset, promoting versatility without compromising creative integrity. Students will learn to refine their Zoom In/Zoom Out perspective, gaining the ability to see both the bigger picture and the finer details of any subject. The program's structure guides the individuals through three essential phases: Exploration Phase–Presentations, visual games, and foundational lessons introduce students to various disciplines, helping them discover their interests. Development Phase–They start defining their creative goals, practicing their skills, and trying out various artistic approaches. Mastery Phase - With a clear direction, students focus on long-term goals, whether as brand-focused professionals, university students, or future educators. Disciplines covered include architecture, painting, illustration, concept design (especially for gaming), traditional animation, digital art, children's book illustration, film, creative writing, and music (the art of songwriting). A Purposeful, Transparent Approach I work closely with each student, providing honest yet supportive evaluations to help identify their strengths. My goal is to guide serious and passionate learners and not to mislead families into unnecessary expenses. I strive to be straightforward in a respectful and encouraging manner, communicating if a child may not be suited for this path. A Valuable Investment in Thinking & Creativity Even if a student ultimately chooses a non-artistic career, this course fosters critical and creative thinking, which are essential skills for any field. The knowledge gained here is never wasted; it’s an investment in adaptability, innovation, and problem-solving abilities that transcend the arts.
