I'll be teaching you the subjects I can see you have most difficulty with - be it figure drawing, perspective, concept art or even going back to fundamentals as a reminder. I do both traditional and digital art, so I can also teach you how to move from one media to another without fear! Before our first lesson, I like to have a free, quick 15-min 1:1 to get to know you first - to help me know you better, talk more about your goals and see some of your work (if any). It's mostly a casual chat to get to know you better and introduce myself and it rarely lasts a full hour. This helps me not only when preparing personalized art lessons for you, whatever your focus may be, but also when figuring out what works best for you in terms of learning, such as: - Do you have time for homework? - Do you prefer a more objective explanation as opposed to a more detailed one? - Do you prefer learning all the theory first and then practicing later all at once, or to take it in small chunks? - How experienced are you in art? - Do you prefer a more casual class or one that challenges you every time? Just a tiny PSA - if you're starting out from the very beginning with the fundamentals, please bear with me for a couple of classes because it will probably be super boring at first! This might be the tonal way in which light reflects, structural forms or mathematical division. The point being, is that we all have such aesthetic interests and step 1 is finding out what interests you! Step 2 is helping you express your interests through painting techniques, styles and materiality. But it all starts with you. What do you want to say? And how? I will help you do this through discussion, looking at your previous work (if you have any), introducing you to a LARGE variety of artists, potentially copying their styles. I adjust my classes according to your needs. The goal is simple: to come to understand your artistic interest, help you find techniques to express them and develop your artistic language. (Please note that just because you have found an artistic interest and a way to express it, it does not mean that you must do only one thing for the rest of your life. It is the downfall of creativity to repeat and paint the same way over and over again. Instead, allow your interests to drive your creativity.
