I am an Italian native speaker in Leuven until the end of January and I would like to help people improving their knowledge of the Italian language. I am a 24 years old girl from Verona. I study English and Russian for a Master's degree, so I am used to the learning of languages. The lesson could take place in any library or wherever the student wishes.

Hello, I'm Verdiana and I'm a Master student at KU Leuven. I tutor students and offer private lessons since I was 16, thus I've gained quite some experience on the topic. My main focus is on foreign language because I've studied them for 5 years. Here in Leuven though, I would like to teach Italian, my native language. During a one-hour-class, you'll get the chance to explore the (difficult but fascinating) Italian grammar, to practice both your oral and written skills and to learn some useful Italian phrases. I am a professional interpreter and translator with eight years of experience teaching people of all ages in Italy, China and Switzerland. I am an Italian national and the strong passion for foreign languages led me to undertake an academic and professional career with English and Chinese: this allowed me to teach also abroad. My goal is to transmit the same passion to my students through courses that are not only structured according to personal needs, but are also interactive, enjoyable and include interesting and diverse exercises and activities. ME: I have a Bachelor's degree in Oriental Languages and a Master's degree in Interpreting and Translation. During the latter, I won a four-month Erasmus scholarship in China. I have experiences as a translator and interpreter in Italy and Switzerland and I have worked as a teacher in Italy in primary schools, privately for high school students and adults and in China for children aged 3 and 8. In addition, I have done replacements and school projects in Switzerland. In order to learn the language, I took elementary and intermediate French courses and I continue to study it independently but I do not yet speak the language fluently.

I am Valentina and I am a PhD student in Neuroscience. I was born in Italy, in Trento. I love the teaching of my mother tongue! I have experience in the italian private lessons since three years. I have qualifications and experience teaching at different levels and in different contexts. I can help the student to improve the oral, written, and comprehension skills. Most important is that each course is based on the needs, interests and availability of the student. - The method is mainly what is called communicative, aimed at stimulating the student to speak immediately and put the focus on the functional aspect of the language. For beginners, I usually follow a specific program, I prepare a course and for each lesson I send students the files that I scan from the various books. Also the lessons can be essentially developed as conversations on specific subjects.

In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). The topics that have arisen from recent discussions with students relate to French Caribbean writing, Italian resistance and reprisals in Rome (Fosse Ardiatine), and Spanish Etica franquista in films (among others).

Hello everyone! I'm Giorgia and I come from Torino, Italy. I offer my native knowledge of Italian to any of you, who wants to discover this beautiful language. I teach for all levels, from very beginners to advanced speakers, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I can also help with university exams and school works/assignments. Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages. The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. My suggestion of a well planned lesson is, for any level, to divide it into two parts: grammar first and then conversation (covering all the abilities mentioned above).
