I started my career as an English language teacher in 2008 and soon became very passionate about language learning and teaching. This culminated in a Masters degree in second-language acquisition and a CELTA Certificate from Dundee College. I specialised in Trinity and Cambridge exams and also in conversational English for practical and everyday use. After many years overseas, both teaching and examining English, I have returned to Spain and am available to share my extensive experience and expertise in all aspects of English. I currently work as an Aviation teacher in a school in Alicante where I have taught for some years. My teaching approach is student-centred and communicative, where learning is a positive experience in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. All my students are encouraged to speak as much as possible to increase fluency. Professionalism, patience and a good sense of humour guaranteed! All lesson materials are provided free of charge. I teach using a mixture of coursebook material , whiteboard presentations, listening activities, video clips and general speaking practice. While my classes are 100% in English, I can also speak Spanish and some Italian words. This gives me a real insight as to why students make certain mistakes, and how to best avoid them. We can focus on basic grammar and vocabulary, or start from scratch. On the other hand, we can also work together to prepare for official exams and deal with more complicated situations. Improving business English is also a possibility, as I have previous experience in that area. During our lessons we will mainly use online resources, personalized activities and powerpoint. You will get some homework every lesson, so that you can further internalize what we have seen in class. The lessons can last 1 to 2 hours, depending on personal preference and availability. They are held once or twice a week. I graduated in English Studies, where we studied General English, Morphology, Culture and Literature. In addition, I also have a Master's degree in Language Teaching, which gave me all the tools necessary to teach. I am currently studying a PhD in English Literature at the University of Lleida. I'm an English literature graduate who loves learning new languages because I believe that in any nation there's an astonishing culture and history that we can only touch it closely and feel it through learning the language . Languages are able to unlock a new world for us full of mystery and adventure. I would be honored to be your companion during this enchanting trip :> Although my first job was not teaching, now I feel very confident about my skills in this profession more than the other jobs that I've experienced. I've been teaching since the second year of my BA and I feel since then, everyday was a challenge and each semester a lesson for me to learn so as to enhance my skills and help my students more efficient. I've been to some institutions and held private and general classes for students with different ages, cities and genders. Holding a class never feels like a burden to me, as it is a hobby that I have the opportunity to share what I know and help at least some people in the road they have stepped in and also learn variety of GK from people. It is mostly based on the student's learning history, their goal and how much they can put afford to study and devote time to learn. In general, I can say that I'm against translation learning and I'm hugely a fan of task based and speaking based teaching. I'm really fond of using Oxford books as my sources!

Maria is an excellent teacher who can adapt her teaching style according to her student. My daughter and I both had lessons with her and we both found the lessons both enjoyable and challenging. We both feel we made progress. My daughter has had several tutors over the years and thinks Maria is, for her, perfect. She makes the lessons fun while having a structure and aim for each lesson so progress is always made.
